In this episode of the Digestion Diaries I introduce Stacey, my wife. Stacey has had Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) for about 30 years. Her main symptom is constipation. Why did I decide to showcase my wife’s 30 year struggle with IBS? Because this is what the diaries are all about: the process of getting better isn’t always a skyrocket to the top, but it can be if you are committed to getting better.
We speak openly about the two opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to obtaining and maintaining better health. You see, I am the type of person that wants to jump in and follow programs to see how I feel. I will make drastic changes in my diet and take any supplement if I think it will really make me better.
Stacey has a different approach. Stacey, like many people I have worked with over the last 20 years, simply doesn’t jump all in! As you’ll see in the diary, Stacey is someone that just can’t commit to programs that take away her favorite foods. She also hates taking supplements so she still deals with chronic digestive issues like bloating, constipation and other symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome. Granted, she’s a million percent better than she was 20 years ago (maybe not a million percent, but a LOT better). Watch and see how she progresses as she decides to prioritize her gut health above and beyond her food cravings.
